The owners wanted an open plan house with minimal detail that connects to the beautifully wooded natural surroundings in Woodside. One wing with a full basement has a lightwell that serves a common game room. The house exterior is clad with  Shou Sugi Ban wood siding, which combined with metal roofing renders the house very fire-resistant.
